BRIDAL TESTIMONIAL

“ I have been dancing since the age of six, started learning ballroom at the age of twelve and up until four years ago was involved in competitive dancesport.
It had always been my dream that on my wedding day, I would do the perfect bridal waltz with my husband- who of course would also be an avid and spectacular dancer. Unfortunately, the man who stole my heart could not have been more different from the Prince Charming in my childhood fairytale. He is a heavy metal rocker, built like a bus and can’t tell his left foot from his right. He was one of those guys who didn’t think that dancing was for “real men”, although he liked to come and watch me train. So my dream of having the “perfect waltz” did not look like it would come to fruition. I was taken aback the day Nick suggested that we attend a dance class to learn a bridal waltz for our wedding day. He knew that it would be something I would want to do as well as being totally unexpected by our families, as they all knew of his lack of grace, style and fluidity. I said yes, although I was more expecting it to be a laugh and comedy act rather than my dream waltz. Ian and Melinda Hayes, two very warm, friendly and experienced teachers, made our sessions comfortable and fun. They have a great way of communicating with all types of folk and making the most inexperienced dancer into a confident dancer; well they certainly did wonders for Nick! Our wedding dance was spectacular- a real show stopper and definitely unexpected on behalf of our guests. To this day they still comment on the lifts and dips and more importantly Nick’s ability to move like a “gentleman”. Nick and I had so much fun learning our bridal dance together that we decided to continue the dance sessions. It has been great to finally be able to go out and dance with Nick, rather than on my own. Ian and Melinda, thanks for playing a tremendous role in our wedding day and enabling my dream of the “perfect bridal dance” to come to fruition. Nicholas & Laura Roby” |
